In the City of Mumbai

In the city of Mumbai
Jewish bodies die.
In the black heart of hate
Blood pours like spilt paint.
Gavriel the angel is clipping his wings
Destined for Heaven – lamentations he sings.
Rebecca is lulling her babies to sleep
The garden's wet dew cannot help but weep.
Sarah the savior – a lone warrior in flight
Battles the pharaohs with vision and light.
Baby Moses is crouching –safe in the reeds
A future awaits – planting hope seeds.
We are still crying
Our children are dying
We are still praying
Our bodies are swaying
We want Redemption
Desperation
Preparation
Negotiation
Pleading
Begging
Now!

Mumbai revisited
What a powerful poem! Brought back all the pain, anguish and dispair of those terrible days. May their memories be as a blessing always.
Be'Ezrat Hashem, may the Moshiach come soon and in our times!

WOW!
A very powerful and beautiful poem, Orna. You captured the soul of that horrible nightmare of Mumbai, and your poetic form is pure and musical.
How could Hashem refuse such an eloquent demand for Moshiach!?

Mumbai
I like how the writer incorporated the our biblical characters names. The names themselves have such depth.
