A Picture Worth a Thousand Words

The songs of Zion call us
A melody of hope, of peace

A Shir-HaShirim [Song of Songs] to our land
The place for us to live, to feast

Ballads from the hills resound;
Chana's offspring start to teem

Devorah has defeated Sisera
The mountain's dancing with the stream

Successfully we got away
To Yam Suf [Reed Sea] the Egyptians fall

A chorus pierces heaven
"Thanks," the Jewish people call

A picture's worth a thousand words
Is what the scholars think

But not a single one of them
Has heard Am Yisrael [the Jewish Nation] sing.

A Picture Worth a Thousand Words-Rivka Greenberg
A wonderful poem. Poetry has always been the voice of the inner self, the carrier of revelations, dreams, and visions that often defy expression in ordinary prose. We all need poetry in our lives to transport us beyond the boundaries of usual language. When poetry "works" our conscious and unconscious minds know their harmony. We feel the energy of the words and they are relevant, both to the heart and to the soul.

Do continue to write poetry.
