Along a Broken Sea

They tell me there’s a place
Along a broken sea
Where my heart is beating
Waiting.

Always waiting for me
A land that flows with milk and honey
A home filled to the brim.
The missing denizens of my family
In caves, on lost roads, sleeping within
They gave up their lives
Their loves
Their homes
For a chance
That we would reach our promised land
And here we are
Upon the threshold
About to take the plunge Yet here we stay
Upon the threshold
Its time that someone decides to jump
They tell me there’s a place
Along a broken sea
The land of my fathers
That belongs to me.

Yet here I am
Standing within reach
Blinded by liberation
Paralyzed by fright
You have to open your eyes
In order to see the light.
