We are the women of two lights
Mothers, Daughters, Wives alike
We strive, we toil, we care and we pray
The day of rest we honor by lighting the way
Two were the tablets delivered at Sinai
Upon which This Commandment is inscribed
Two white candles we light in His name
Pillars of purity, symbols of oneness, driven by His breath and flame
The wick is a helix, the fiber, the soul
The paraffin encasing serves a protective role
The flame is the miracle that lets there be light
When put to the wick, our souls re-ignite
When one woman's candle burns at both ends
Bending, lamenting into a stream of her tears
By her side his stands ever so boldly
As a soldier of strength, his love never veers
When life deals man the short end of the wick
And she's called to duty, to carry the light
She may flicker and cry but never leaving his side
He won't struggle alone in life's only fight
One is the person that renders one whole
One is the G-d who reunites two souls
Two are the lives that lantern one road
Growing ever brighter as their journey unfolds
