Dust

A Tribute to Those Who Lived


I shall one day be no longer;
I shall be dust one day,
For from dust I came
And there - I shall soon lay.

And who shall pass on
The story of the past?
And who shall gather
Those faded shards of glass?

And though I shall be dust,
Once again, part of the land,
There are so many witnesses -
So many who still stand.

Though one day the trees shall burn,
Their ashes shall still live,
And though one day a star shall be lost,
The dark, vast sky shall still drift.

Though one day the walls shall crumble,
Their stones shall still lie.
And though one day I shall be dust,
I know I shall not die.
