And there was light!

On Friday, May 30, 2003, from the four corners of the world, Jewish women and girls joined together with Shabbat Candles for Peace—the first-ever coordinated international Shabbat candle lighting event.

From Hong Kong to Hawaii, in big cities and little towns, in Jewish homes and hearts everywhere, little lights were lit, prayers were sent, and Jewish souls were linked.

By popular demand, the Shabbat Candles for Peace Campaign is adding a second chapter. Jewish women and girls the world over will unite in light once more on Friday, September 26, 2003, the inspiring eve of Rosh Hashanah.

Just as our candles and prayers were seen and heard in Heaven, they will surely be seen and heard again. Won’t you please join us in this important endeavor?
