For more than half a century in the United States, Chabad-Lubavitch
has been the vanguard of Jewish continuity. It is the only Jewish
organization with a global network of human resources capable
of facilitating the most dramatic and innovative outreach programs
worldwide.
Catering to the broad range of needs that arise in any Jewish
community – from the small ones in isolated and distant
places, to those in bustling metropolises – are more than
2,400 Chabad-Lubavitch centers. Whether by request or on its own
initiative, Chabad-Lubavitch dispatches representative to a given
location, and a barren landscape is soon transformed: Talmud Torahs,
day schools, synagogues, libraries, mikvahs and more, make Judaism
come alive, and enable Jewish people to begin to experience real
Jewish living.
Spearheading all of these activities was our beloved Rebbe, Rabbi
Menachem M. Schneerson. After his passing in 1994, many wondered
how Chabad-Lubavitch would carry on. But wild speculation soon
gave way to respectful recognition and renewed confidence: Chabad-Lubavitch
continues to grow ...existing centers are expanding… new
ones continue to emerge … and our outreach activities are
growing exponentially. Toward the fulfillment of the Rebbe’s
vision, the movement is strong and enduring, with several thousands
of Shluchim – men and women – passionately committed
to the mission of Chabad-Lubavitch.
Through the diverse activities of Chabad-Lubavitch institutions,
Jewish life has achieved a level of visibility and viability unlike
any it has known in recent history. Our international network
of Chabad-Lubavitch centers in more than 50 countries around the
world has put a living Jewish community within the reach of any
Jew, nearly anywhere, ensuring universal Jewish awareness with
the promise of Jewish continuity.
Shabbat Candles for Peace is a project of The Shluchim Office,
the resource center for all Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries around
the world. For over a decade, The Shluchim Office has been providing
guidance and support to the more than 3,000 Shluchim (emissaries)
who are dedicated to igniting sparks of Jewish life around the
world.
