The Previous Rebbe was once approached with the following dilemma: You profess to expect Moshiach’s coming “immediately.” Yet, at the same time, you make long-term plans, as if expecting exile to continue for the foreseeable future?
Don’t dwell on prerequisites for Moshiach’s arrival. He should come today – literally!
After all that has befallen the Jewish people in recent history, we cannot begin to rationalize G-d’s reasons behind these tragedies. Moshiach must come immediately and answer all our questions.
Transmit this message to my followers: Moshiach is coming very soon, and they must be prepared to receive him properly!

Concerning the future Redemption, the prophet declares, “I will offer thanks to You, G-d, for Your wrath,” for at that time, the good hidden in all mankind’s suffering will be made clear.

In 1987, the Rebbe spoke about the need for Jews to demand of G-d that it is high time for Moshiach to arrive. The next day, a group of rabbis, led by Rabbi Yehuda Kalman Marlow of the Crown Heights Beis Din, present a halachic ruling on the matter.
