Shammai

Shammai: (1st century BCE) Mishnaic sage, student of Shemaiah and Abtalion, served as the head of the Sanhedrin under Hillel. Known for his quick temper and strict interpretation of the Torah. His Torah academy was known as the “House of Shammai.”
