Euthanasia makes sense. The animal kingdom, Greek culture and Darwinism all lend their credence. The only one withholding credence is a pesky verse in our Parshah...

Yes, children are beyond numbers. However, when you are the parents of one or more handicapped children, carry the distinct possibility of additional disabled children and realize that there will be no one to care for your children after you are gone, money does matter.

If you can only buy 5 times the amount of food that a child needs to live, would you rather have 10 children that all receive only half that amount and all starve to death, leaving zero alive, or 5 children that receive enough to eat and live?

Who are we to say if we can afford our children or not? Does the king of the universe bless us with children when we are open to accepting them, then turn his back on us as we, with His Torah to guide us, train them up to follow His ways as well? I will accept as many children as He blesses me with, I have to train them, He has given me the responsibility to do so. I must trust G-D to provide what I need to raise them with the Torah to guide our home, or my life, my sacrifices, will have been for nothing. He can use humble situations to bring about mighty people, hasn't that been shown in the history of His people?

It's not a question of doing the math or not. It's a question of hearing someone lying in the hospital bed screaming in pain and standing by saying 'your life is too sacred and we don't have a right to take it.'
