Kremlin Lighting Kicks off Thousands of Chanukah Celebrations

Thousands gathered outside the Kremlin for a traditional Chanukah menorah lighting in below-freezing weather presided over by Russian Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar.
After 17 years, the annual public menorah lighting outside the Kremlin has become a Chanukah tradition.
The event, attended by Moscow’s Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, kicked off more than 40 Chanukah events in Moscow and 2,000 gatherings across the Former Soviet Union.
