Vietnam’s Jews Take to the Great Outdoors

The Jewish community in Vietnam’s largest municipality, Ho Chi Minh City, took their Chanukah festivities outside after last year’s party overflowed the confines of the local Chabad-Lubavitch center. An eclectic group of more than 100 locals, foreign businesspeople and backpackers came to the event in Saigon Park. The party, replete with dancing and a public menorah lighting, represented the first holiday celebration held outside the Chabad House directed by Rabbi Menachem and Rachel Hartman.
