If life is a journey, then the era of Moshiach is the destination. Yet the Jewish understanding of this era has long been shrouded in mystery and misconceptions.

A new online course taught by Rabbi Pinchas Taylor promises to shed light on this little-known, but crucial, aspect of Jewish belief.

Billed as “Approaching Moshiach, Judaism’s Real-World Utopia,” this is the eighth course from Chabad.org Courses, which launched in 2015. Each one is given by a different presenter and focuses on a specific area of Jewish belief, practice or scholarship.

“The time of Moshiach is the culmination of all of history,” explains Rabbi Zalman Refson, who produced the course. “Yet no one has ever experienced it, so we are reliant on prophetic revelations and other somewhat cryptic texts in our effort to properly understand what will happen and why.”

Taylor plans to use the platform to help students understand the purpose of Moshiach, what the world will look like in that era, the qualifications to be King Moshiach, when he will come and the mystery of the resurrection of the dead.

The rabbi, who graduated from the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, N.J., completed his formal rabbinic studies in Los Angeles. He lives with his wife, Miriam, in South Florida, where he serves as director of adult education and outreach at Chabad of Plantation. He also is involved with counseling and chaplaincy.

The free course will air at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on four consecutive Mondays, from Aug. 14 to Sept. 4. As with all Chabad.org Courses, participants will be supplied with source sheets, quizzes, access to discussion boards and an opportunity to interact directly with the presenter.
