Riverdale Chabad House Celebrates 18 Years

More than 250 people gathered for a gala dinner and tribute at the New York Botanical Garden in celebration of the 18th anniversary of Chabad-Lubavitch of Riverdale, directed by Rabbi Levi and Sarah Shemtov. Honorees included Al Kahn, Dr. Robert and Rachel Jetter, and Daniel and Chani Oshinsky.

Students Take Montreal by Storm

Some 400 elementary and junior high students from Beth Rivkah Academy in Montreal fanned out to 20 different locations in the Quebec city to entertain and educate fellow Jews at retirement homes and day schools. The campaign coincided with events this week marking the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the leadership of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory.

Russian Community Moves to Restore Jewish Cemetery

Grigory Altman, chairman of the Jewish community of Kaluga, Russia, lobbied for the reconstruction of the local Jewish cemetery during a meeting with regional Gov. Anatoly Artamonov. The request followed a presentation made by the governor to representatives of the city’s various ethnic communities.
