1981: Reaching Behind Bars

The Aleph Institute is created by Chabad-Lubavitch to provide assistance to Jewish prisoners and their families. Rabbis are regularly dispatched by Aleph to visit jails across the United States; donning tefillin with the inmates constituting one of their activities. Aleph also arranged for Jews to be able to put on tefillin daily in their cells.
