Why is the day of R' Shimon's passing considered such a happy day? Because on that day he experienced ultimate oneness with G-d. This teaches all of us, including even very small children, that we must strive to grow closer to G-d every single day.

11:28 - His Sole Occupation Was Torah
R' Shimon, more than anyone else, devoted his entire life to Torah study and all of us should emulate this quality. Because small children have their material needs tended to by others, they have a special opportunity to devote themselves to Torah study without distraction.

25:52 - G-d is With Us in Exile
One of R' Shimon's teachings is that G-d remains in Exile with the Jewish people and will not leave them behind even one second before they are redeemed. We who live in a free country should be inspired by the sacrifices made by Jewish parents who live "behind the Iron Curtain" and should ignore the pressures that would dissuade us from giving our children a Torah-true education.

44:29 - The Purpose of Prayer
The purpose of prayer is to bring us into a state of oneness with G-d. When we are at one with G-d, all of our needs are taken care of. Lag B'Omer is an auspicious time to receive divine blessings for all that one needs. May G-d bless us with complete freedom from all worries and distractions by bringing us out of Exile through the coming of Moshiach.
