Thanks
Thanks for posting this! I don't know what the hanukkah candles say to me, but they never said that.

Candle Time
I wanted this spot for the Chanuka site to be very nostalgic - like the kind of Chanukas people remember from their childhood, or old family movies.

I think there's a very casual way to view Chanuka - like it's just an excuse for the family or friends to get together.

Or there's the recognition that Chanuka is about spreading Light for all to enjoy. We can put our own little flickerings aside and Shine for the Collective Good.

Changing the name
what's the deal with "H"annukah? I always thought it was Chanukah! That sounds like pandering to me!

"Hanukkah" or "Chanukkah"?
There is no one proper way of transliterating the Hebrew, as English doesn't contain the sound represented by the letter "het" (or "chet"). Some transliteration schemes use "h" as the closest European equivalent (sometimes with an underline or sublinear dot as well), while some use "ch" (as in "Bach") as the closest European equivalent. Pay your money and take your chances, as it were. :)

Uh...
Usually Chabad videos make me feel so enlightened, edified, and better prepared to perform mitzvot. This one ade me feel less intelligent for having watched it. What was the message? There are candles for Chanukah? I think that the 100% success rate of Chabad is now 99.9%

Candle Time
You provide a valuable service for people such as myself who are fairly new at keeping this festival.

Don't Care For the Spelling Either & What Message?
I agree with Mark Ronen's comment 100%!As for the message, I watched it twice, am sorry to say all I remember was a sad portrayal of a stereotypical, whiney
"Jewish Mom" with 2 annoying kids!
Although the last frame was pretty!

People dont get IT!
First of all, I believe the graphics are stunning! Second, this scene portrays jewish people in how they often behave, but acting as candles, which makes me laugh, BUT they are still candles, so even though they are bothering each other, screaming at the kid, complaining about money, they HAVE TO SHINE!!! That is their JOB, to shine!!! jews are the same. Each of us is a candle, even if we disagree, there are times we must remember are job is to put our bickering aside and shine to the outside world. Please and the comment about Chabad video rate now being 99.9% or the people who think this video is not being deep, are people who need deep thought spoon fed to them., We each have a way to look at the world and I appreciate this artists view. design on man.

Message
A message that I take from this video is that the Chanukah Lights have a message. It's a reminder for people who may not know their message, to explore their inner meaning. Also, for different people, the chanukah candles have different meanings. I noticed someone said they will be using this video in Hebrew School. I think it's a perfect opener for a discussion about the different meanings that people take from the Chanukah lights.

a bit disappointing
I agree with another writer...I usually look forward to very profound & moving messages from Chabad videos, which causes me to forward them to friends & family immediately. Sorry to say that this little skit left me wanting for more and with no desire to pass it along.
however it is quite cute and still has a message.

Got me thinking
After watching it a second time, I got the message. We are meant to be a light onto the nations. If we are aware that we have an audience, wouldn't we shine? I explained this concept to my kids as they kept watching it over and over again. Well done! We all loved the animation.

for the good G-D-loving people who don't get the point of chanukah-lights:

I have children who just loved it.

What's wrong for someone on the Chabad.org team not to make something "loaded"? It is a cute way to promote the competition and website. The candles are speaking, but the question is what do you hear them saying? What does Chanukah mean to YOU? I took no offense in the humor and think hard work should not be put down so easily.

Amazing Deep Message!
Alex's comment is right - there truly is a deep and powerful message here.. we are all so jewishly regular, but we have the responsibility to "put our bickering aside and shine to the outside world!" Although judging from the clip creator's comment, it
doesnt seem that he had that in mind.

I would suggest that they change that last tagline to something which (maybe subtly and with tact) brings out this message.

Very Cute
It was really cute, especially the part where the sister's complaining to her mom, that was kinda' funny. I'd say that the candles say to me that they are bright, and hard-working, but they also relax me with their flickering flame that still continues.
