a complex story: The Wagon Driver

I listened to this story with rapt attention. I am thinking both meanings of wagon were fulfilled by this Odyssey, a journey that did involve, I will say, the dissolution of ego. Why? Because it did seem that studying as he had done, to become wise, was missing a crucial point, and that was, in becoming a wagon driver, there are lessons to be learned about life itself, about hardship, about humbling oneself, and the notion that one job is better than another is wrong. So this too is a lesson to be learned, in humility.

It seems many of the articles I am reading this evening are about, for me, the lessons of humility. You don't know whether the Messiah could be, the wagon driver, the person begging for alms in the street. The notion that it is learning through books and books alone, the lessons of life, is wrong.The greatest scholar of all, could be the camel driver, left in the dust by the rebbe hurrying past. Or not.

There are stories within stories, and yes, missions!
