Eikev: Iran's Nuclear Idol

Topics:   ParshahMishkanGoldGolden CalfEikev
After receiving forgiveness for the sin of the golden calf, G-d instructs the Jewish people to make a home for Him on earth: the mishkan. Why was gold so prominently ... More

In our parshah this week, Moses rebukes the Jews for their sin of the golden calf, and reminds them how he beseeched G-d for 40 days until they attained His forgiveness on Yom Kippur.

In fact, as a rectification for this grave sin, G-d commanded them to build a tabernacle to serve as His dwelling place on earth.

What’s surprising is that the primary item used in the construction of the mishkan and its vessels, was gold! The same precious metal that they used to worship an idol was now being utilized for the holy sanctuary. Wouldn't it have made more sense to use any material BUT gold for G-d's new home? Shouldn't G-d have forbidden the usage of gold in His service?

Tune in to this week's Parshah Cast and discover the real value of gold and the modern-day message hidden in this story.
