fantastic take on Jacob's marriages dilemma.
I am happily struck by your concluding comments. We must take into account the benefit/well being of our fellow Jew.
Recently I was chastised for allowing a man to say Kaddish for his mother. We did not have a minyan. I was the only one to say " Amen ". I was told that to break with certain laws was worse than doing nothing. I reject this notion. This man turns up once a year to say Kaddish on Friday night. Just because we have problems getting a minyan should not stand in the way of his needs. They said that he should be educated about the minyan and kaddish. I reject this too. He is a rather simple man. Educating him will just tell him that our Chabad House is too ignorant to put his needs above the mitzvah. Do it our way or go someplace else. Even if his kaddish does not fulfill the mitzvah, let his wish be fulfilled. Furthermore i found out that since G-d's Name is not used in kaddish, it is not such a mortal sin to say kaddish without a minyan for those who don't know better.
