A love
Thank you for this thought-provoking class.

My reading on the word aluv in verse 9, is that it sounds very much like the words a love in the English language. Its interesting that a theme in the parasha is Avrahams love for Hashem, and the distinction between the love that is self-centred and the love that is spiritually higher. Perhaps the angels were asking: where is love? as in, is there the right type of love between Avraham and Sarah to have this child?
Maybe by asking where is she? to avraham, they are really finding out where is HE? Where is his heart for sarah? Does he know where she is? Does he care? Is he really paying attention to her? Is she in his mind and thoughts? Does he know her spiritual place, not just actual location? In this way, I think the parasha shows the key ingredients for a happy home for a child - a proper connection between the spirits of the parents.
