Until your teaching have happily ignored the rabbinical admonition against mixing meat and dairy. Now staying kosher will be a bit more difficult. You have convinced me that it is Torah. A thank you and shalom, Rabbi.

Avraham's Guests
Dear Margie,

Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you are learning. In response to your question: Read the verses carefully, Avraham avinu doesn't cook the milk and meat together (that would be a violation of the precept). Rather he serves people he thinks are Bedouins (Gentile's, although in reality they are angels and don't eat at all, see Rashi) who he know enjoy eating butter with their meat. Obviously they are under no such dietary obligation. What we learn from this, our Sages note, is how we must go out of our way to take care of strangers and extend the very best hospitality.

Hope that answers the question. Keep on asking and learning!
