refusing to assimilate
the rav here emphasizes the importance of resisting assimilation and maintaining faithfulness to our traditions in order to survive in the exile rather than the assimilating and saying that we are proud of our zadie's long white beard in the picture high up on the wall. how then are we to understand ester's behavior when she goes to visit the king willingly and even on mordechai's instruction?
