The famous story from the Midrash about how Abraham destroyed the idols in his father's shop. An excerpt from the one-hour DVD "Young Abraham."

Response to the anonymous comments, It may not be in the Torah but it is in the Midrash and the Talmud(Everyman's Talmud, Abraham Cohen) tells many story front Talmud in easy way to understand . Torah is as a Ocean of hidden mysteries you just have to diving in to discover or as well is Ike a mine of hidden treasury you must you must put effort on to brake the hardness of the rocks to ind that treasury!

Didn't you see the midrashic sources posted right underneath the scene. This seems pretty accurate according to the MIdrash.

this is true! look in the chumash and youll see it!

Midrash or not, I prefer to keep my kids into the Torah and not into things that may or may not be true based on tradition.

The complete film is available through the movie's website (it should come up with a search) either as a DVD or a download. We just watched it last night. To the commenter from St. Louis, there are several made-up elements in the full-length film, but the idol-smashing isn't one of them. The story of young Avram smashing the idols in his father's workshop is a very famous, well-known midrash. The film drew on that midrash, as well as others, to form a script. The Torah says little of Avram's life before his marriage & trip to Charan. Other midrashim mentioned in the film include Avram realizing that there is only one G-d and Avram being thrown into the fiery furnace (which was a little scary for the youngest viewers). The animation was first-rate. I wish it had been longer, & so did my son. He also really wanted to see Avram at the Tower of Babel (since the rabbis tell us that he was alive at the time at this incident), but that isn't included in the story, nor life in Charan.

Hello, I loved watching this and the brave young man should inspire all to stand for the truth. I pray this video is watched all over the world and would like to know how to get the full version. Many thanks and God bless you all

From what I understand this animation has not yet been released. There was a small Direct to DVD pre-release for the Jewish market. The film you saw was unfinished
I have heard that it will be on television, followed by a mainstream DVD release.
It's really a fantastic film and is light years ahead of its time. Thank you for this wonderful film.

This story is not in the Torah. Who made this up. Sure, idols of wood and stone are fake, but so is this story.
