Va'era
two more prosaic ideas - the smelting pot of Egypt is a kur barzel in Hebrew - the Jews had to amalgamate as a people: the letters of barzel standing for Bilha, Rachel, Zilpa and Leah, all the tribes had to coalesce...

second, the story of Moshe and the coals was in order to cleanse the lips of Moshe who was to speak face to face with G-d and G-d would speak through his lips. When Bitya, the daughter of Pharoah, found the baby she tried to get Egyptian nursing mothers to get to feed the baby and they would express drops of milk to get him to eat - he refused and eventually Miriam brought Moses' own mother to nurse him. Since those drops had tainted his lips they now had to be 'kashered'.
