Transliteration:

Tzomoh lecho nafshi, komah lechah besari, be'aretz tziyah ve'ayaif beli mayim.

Translation:

My soul thirsts for You, My flesh longs for You, in a dry and weary land without water. So may I look for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.

Psalms 63: 2,3

Musical Notes

Usually attributed to the Alter Rebbe, it is not certain whether the melody is actually one of his ten compositions. The melody is filled with poignancy and is sung soulfully. It is a favorite of the Rebbe, who revived it on Shabbat Mevorchim in the month of Iyar, 5714 (1954) at a Chassidic gathering.
