Practical Spirituality
Dear Rabbe, first thank you for sharing your thoughts on Tanya. I looked at my animal soul as my enemy. Recently I felt I didnt agree with what I thought was Chabad philiosophy, that it was an enemy to be fought. I kept losing so I decided to use the energy of my animal soul (my ego) as my spiritual souls advocate. Your wrapping up of Tanya reinforced what I have been trying to implement. Thank you, for clarifying this for me. Many blessings to You and Yours.

Your Book
Rabbi, you nailed it in your book on addiction; you have a superb understanding of the Big Book, the disease and the spiritual program of action. I would love to participate in a Jewish Spiritual Retreat where you are the Retreat Master. You could use your Tanya framework. Also I see a parallel between aspects of the 10 step and your commentary on thought, speech and action and impulse control...You are the best...with my deepest admiration..Steve C.

thank you
Dear Rabbi Taub,
I have been learning for about five years now and i've completed the first book of Tanya. This auido class was very insightful and enjoyable and served as a "refresher" course along with many new things I never new. Thank you

thank you for helping me to understand
I was not born to a Jewish family but i have come to learn that i have a Jewish soul. I am Jewish by choice, now I am at peace with my self (it's a long story.) I have been Jewish for some 15+ years, now i am learning. Thank you.

Tanya
It seems backward to me because isn't behavior, speech and actions the product of one's mental functioning or thoughts? Why not train one's mind to think G-dly thoughts, basically impulse control over the mental functions of the animalistic soul, so that one's speech and actions will eventually conform to the predominate mental functions of the selfless soul? Thank you.
