Lyrics: Eight Candles Burning

I was driving down the highway, and the car in front of me
Had an eight-foot-wide menorah lit for all the world to see
Four young guys in black hats and beards—what a sight!
They asked me, “Are you Jewish?” when we pulled up to the light.
Eight candles burning, dreidels turning, turning
Chanukah, the miracle of lights!

I asked them, “Where do you all come from?
Never saw you in my city!”
They said, “Don’t worry, sir, we’re on a mission from the Rebbe.”
They handed me some candles and showed me what to do
Well sure, OK, why not? I’ll try something new!
Eight candles burning, dreidels turning, turning
Chanukah, the miracle of lights!

They said, “Our job is never finished, ’cause we’ve got so much to do
So take this here menorah, and be a shliach too.
If you want to help us—turn darkness into light—
Then add another candle each and every night.”
Eight candles burning, dreidels turning, turning
Chanukah, the miracle of lights!

Now my menorah’s in the window, lighting up the snow
The whole family’s together, we’ve got latkes frying slow
It’s been years since those rabbis made it through our town
But I’ll always remember and I’ll never let ‘em down.
Eight candles burning, dreidels turning, turning
Chanukah, the miracle of lights!

It takes all kinds of Jews--and all styles of Jewish melodies/niggunim. This country-western is great! Thank you.
