The Candle Store

Children at the shtetl candle shop speak about the meaning of light in Judaism and the significance of lighting Shabbat candles as well as the Menorah on Chanukah.

The Jewish Heritage Centre for Children (JHCC) in Leeds, UK, brings Judaism to life for children and adults through arts, crafts, cookery and modern technology. The JHCC is supported by generous funding from The Heritage Lottery Fund.

Single girls
It's true that girls over three light Shabbos Candles. It should have been in the script! These videos are, however part of an entire exhibition in which the Village/Shtetl House has a Shabbos table with an extra candle (and it's explained that this is for the daughter of the house)

Why do they only mention that Married women light two Shabbat candles? Girls above the age of three also light a single Shabbat candle (supervised by an adult)!
