Your presentation of Shabbat is absolutely beautiful. I was raised in the Christian Church and as a child we of course observed Sunday as our day of rest. However, most Christians have forgotten their ways and no longer acknowledge Sunday as a day of rest. I have recently learned that I am of Jewish decent and am trying to connect with my past. My wife and I have begun to keep the Sabbath and have discovered what a Blessed time it is. We look forward to and anticipate lighting the candles. I never dreamed it would be so. Blessing on all the House of Isreal.

Thanks for taking the time to compile so much inspiring and interesting information on your website. I was moved by the video about Shabbat, so much so that I am determined to re-explore one by observing it for the full 24 hours.

Beautiful video. My daughter is getting prepared to light her first Shabbat candle in 6 months. She loved this video pointed out everything with excitement. Like Challah, Abba kiddush, Emah Candles, brachot etc etc. Very nice. I would recommend this video to anyone who want to learn about Shabbos. Thank you nicely done.

Thank you so much for a beautiful video. I am jealous! I so long for this sense of family! I am not jewish, but I am a believer. My desire is to adopt the ways. However, the rest of my family has no desire.

What a beautiful vido. It explained alot and shared the beauty of Shabbat to this gentile! Thanks so much.

What a beautiful video! However it would have been nice to see some families that have more economic diversity -- all the ones protrayed one would assume to be affluent. This would lead a newcomer to your site to believe that, they too, have to have the means to "do it right."
|
We Jews put aside our finest for Shabbat so what looks likes affluent is really the finest in everything for Shabbat even right down to how we dress. We look at it as if we are greeting a King that is to come as our guest in our home. In the case of Shabbat it is G-d the King of the universe as our guest. That is the reason for what appears to affluent is really the finest layed out for Shabbat.
|
Please don't confuse the word "affluent" with the term, "our finest." One can readily see that these individuals in the video "go all out" to greet the Sabbath properly. Even "economically challenged" families do the same. Don't get it twisted. I, for one, did not miss the message of this heart-warming video. Thanks Chabad!

This video is very informative and moving and it shows how jews of all nations have similar traditions and ways of doing thing but at the end its the same G-D they are praising and worshiping. I am not a very religious jew but this site and segment in particular made me respect shabbot and opened my eyes. I thank all the doners and providers of these educational lessons. may G-D bless Israel and all jews and may he help us find the light and the goodness that is so verymuch lacking in our lives.

Thankyou Jews for the example of how a family stays strong. As I watched the video I wanted to be adopted. When I read the Torah and see how strict God was about this Holy Day I thought it meant that people rested (layed around unproductive) The comment made about God not needing rest gave me a new perspective. This video has shown an awesome example to all families the way God meant every week to be lived. In Him.

What a beautiful testemony of obedience to the Torah commend for keeping the Shabbat Holy. Thank you for this inspirational video. It makes me reavaliate my lifestyle and submit to G-d in prayer of repentance for not being faithful in sanctifing the Shabbat. The world needs the Jewish people as always to keep alive the principles of Torah. I'm learning with all. I'm commited to pray for Israel and bless this Holy nation.

I loved your presentation of Shabbat. Even though I am not a jew by birth, I have been observing Shabbat for four years now. I cant explain with words what a beautiful blessing has been in my life and my family.Im still learning and loving every step of the way.

In England some years back there was little protest when the government wanted to remove all restrictions on Sunday trading &c. I think because of a deep-seated memory of rigid and joyless Sunday restrictions in previous generations. Your video reminds me of how much my Christian forbears completely missed the point of observance. We Christians don't have the home family ritual (only the tradition of church-going). Maybe if I'd grown up with something like that we could have kept a flame of faith alive in the family

never thought I'd wish this but after seeing this video it makes me want to belong to a jewish family. Would anyone want to adopt a 57 yr old

I have been studying Kabbalah and reading the Zohar for a few years now. I am Catholic and my soul missed the rituals the church used to have. Sundays, no work; Friday, special meals; Friday, before sundown Benediction, etc, etc, etc, The Jewish Religion and tradition is still rich with awe for the things that really matter... spirituality. I of course practice a version of the Shabbat with my family. It is a little of the Jewish tradition, (my husband is jewish) my family has jewish ancestors and a little of the Italian Catholic tradition. My son is being raised Catholic and celebrates the jewish holidays including shabbat. Its a crazy world out there, but the peace that God extends to those who search for Him and connect with Him is just wonderful.

To all of you who went out of your way , took time to create this magnificent Shabbos video. Specially all the emas and abbas and children and grandma and the Rebbe. It elevate my deep desire even more to keep it holy. Thank you all.

My family and I watched this video almost 2 years ago. We have seen it many times since, and have emailed its link to so many of our friends and family. I still remember watching it with my wife for the first time, as tears streamed down our faces. This video was the beginning of a long journey for us that is still continuing today. I would like you and others who watch this video to know that it has completely changed our lives. Thank you... you have blessed us more than you will ever know.

Thanks for brining the holy shabat into the homes of many people that own a computer and are connected to the internet.
|
it is a beautiful video. But, it should ALSO be clearly stated in the beginning (as well as the end, like it does) that this video was not filmed on shabbat

For men Shabbat begins at sunset

A wonderful presentation - motivating, moving and inspirational. Enlightening to know that so many still uphold the traditions of Yiddishkeit

beautifully put together!

I have seen several presentations of the Shabbos celebration but this was the most endearing, thoughtful and inspirational that I have seen. When I heard this for the first time years ago: 'it's not that we keep the sabbath but that the sabbath keeps us." I found the eternal truth of this. It is a carved out time of eternity given as a gift to His people. We are so very blessed and thankful to have come into this beautiful revelation. Thank you for this beautiful video. I have a desire to share it with many.

While watching this segment on Shabbat I was overcome with this over flowing of joy. I can't explain what just happened to me but I wept. and not because I was sad. but because I need this in my life. I want my family to have the closeness and the love that I just saw today. I am learning everything I can so I can do Shabbat correctly. I have alot to learn but I know that I love G-d and want to give him the honor and respect that he deserves. and the reward for doing so cannot be measured; family togetherness and tradition. This is beautiful.
