In this first lesson in a series on the origins of Jewish beliefs, Rabbi Miller focusses on the unique contribution of Maimonides (1135-1204 CE) as a codifier of Jewish belief. The Jewish people are compared to the moon on various levels. one of the more simple ways is that the moon waxes and wanes and then waxes again. So too with the Jewish people that we have up's and down's but are always looking forward to another rise. in the days of Solomon the Jewish people were in their peak - spiritually and therefore psychically. The "Moon" was "complete".
