Higher Than Angels

Posted by Rabbi Infinity

This is ripped off directly from a teaching of the Baal Shem Tov. Here’s a nice translation, straight from the source: Joy Sweetens Judgment.

showing a hand
Assuming the Jewish Press was following a valid halachic opinion, there might be opinions that allow a hand represent God's hand. I remember specifically the cartoon that accompanied the story of Rabbi Chanina ben Dosa and the hand that gave a golden table leg. (Taanis 24b)

"One day the wife of R. Hanina said to him: "How long shall we yet be troubled with the want of our daily bread?" And he replied: "What can I do?" Said she: "Pray to God that He should give thee something." He accordingly went and prayed. A hand came forth and gave him a leg of a golden table."

That's Funny!
Thank You I just loved it.By the way...
I'll take the sphere of light. I know it is only a representation. I am happy you did not use a lightbulb, and don't worry about the finger either because people are all ways using the fickel finger of fate to let you know what is on there mind without any hesitation. Now that's another KabbalahToon.

sun - light - graphic represntation of G-d??
a sphere of light to indicate G-d seems to be wrong; G-d is everywhere .. this should be represented differently.

Re: The finger
It definitely would be forbidden to draw any representation of any body parts for G-d. We use just plain light to indicate G-d's presence in a scene. The finger is in no way meant to represent G-d. Usually, it's a secretary that calls you in, not the Boss Himself.

The finger
If I'm not mistaken, it IS an action of Kefira to make G-d have a finger...But I could be wrong, because maybe that is not G-d's finger.
Thank you
