Getting the Point

For most of us, this is one of the greatest challenges in life: Knowing when to be tough and when to be soft. Somehow, that little needle managed to figure it all out.

It really comes down to knowing your purpose in life. At the very least, you have to know that you have a purpose. And that it has to do with this world you're stuck in.

When you keep that purpose at front-center stage in your mind, the rest of your act is set out for you. If something is standing in the way of that purpose, you gotta be tough. And if something is there to help you out, you gotta open up and let it in.

Knowing your purpose and how everything fits into that great patchwork whole isn't always cut and dry. A lot of people get really off track--and start sewing their thumbs to their fingers. That's why we have all the wise teachings of the Torah and its sages--sort of like a stitching guide. Nowadays, you can't get by without some basic Kabbalah, as well.

I liked this idea, we all being needles
I never thought about a needle, but now I see what makes it a needle, and that it is so useful. And its a good idea to compare ourselves to a needle. It is true: We have a "point" (Spitze), which is sharp and strong and can hurt, if it wants. But the ear, the round end with the hole in it, is gentle, does not hurt anybody and can be connected through the thread to anything, to bad items as well as to good. I am especially glad that I have two sides, the sharp one and the one, that by the thread of love is connected to Hashem. And a needle can be soo useful! It can repair anything. In real life I am able to repair so many things, even those which others would throw away.If in my spiritual life I would own half of this ability, I would be glad. - This little film gave me new ideas.
Thank you!

So, how sharp should we be???
This video would seem to suggest that we should be as obnoxious as possible given what we have to deal with these days.

A very complex meditation. Is this based on several maakoros? I am not sure, but it seems similar to the theme in Tanya chapter 27.

the point
The point is not about being obnoxious. Have you ever tried to sew anything with a needle that has a blunt end...just about the most difficult thing "in the world" to do ! Ever heard of the saying "sharp as a tack" ? The sharp end of a needle, tack, fishing hook, knife, etc. can be good or bad. It depends on how you use it. Sharp can be smart, dependable, useful. It does not have to be used to slice and cut only. The needle's curved end is like we are too. Without Him we too are empty and without a use until the hole is filled with the One who created all. He, as was stated, is the thread that binds and pulls together all the pieces that make a whole. Thankyou again for these words of wisdom Rabbi Infinity.

suggestion
This is beautiful. However I strongly suggest that there be an option to pause it in the middle o give some time to allow things to sink in. You gotta be really quick to follow.

Re: Suggestion to pause
Just right-click and you'll get a menu. Uncheck "Play" and the animation will pause.

A little while ago I wrote ``A very complex meditation``. I have to apologize for that. This is a very useful and down-to-earth meditation. The blog too is very helpful.

Thank you very much.
