 | We tend to think of life as composed of two kinds of time: "real time" devoted to career, family and friends; and "in-between" time -- waiting-room time, airport time, between-jobs time. Not so, says the Rebbe

I appreciate your thoughts in "Between Jobs". The end that we reach is important. But so, too, is the journey that we take to reach that end.

How did the Israelites obtain/make all the objects and materials for the portable temple? I know the Egyptians gave them many things before they left, but since they were slaves, I assume they had little of their own that would serve for the mishkan, especially in such quantity. Would Egyptian left-overs have been suitable for worship materials? Did they have some means of creating the materials from scratch? Was it provided miraculously?

The Torah says that the Children of Israel "borrowed" items from their Egyptian neighbors before leaving Egpt. They kept these items when they left Egypt.
But whether they borrowed wood for poles or thread for weaving, I don't know.
So I am not sure how that worked.
Can the rabbi tell us?

The divine and the mundane are so intertwined and I like this.It gives us the chance to elevate what we do in the world. Difficult to see unless you really look. Thanks for looking!!!!

This caught my attention since I truly am "between jobs" now. I really like the reminder to make each moment count and appreciate the present for what it brings. I also liked the thought of focusing on our spiritual center wherever we are and whoever we meet.
