Truth Anywhere

Truth can come from anywhere—there is nothing that does not have its truth. Because, without a spark of truth, nothing can exist. Not even falseness.

Therefore, the wise man is he who knows how to learn truth from every person and discover the truth of each thing.

Thanks for defining how one reaches the wisdom of Truth Anywhere.

I don't have a solid enough Torah foundation. I must be biding my time in actively pursuing this goal. So although i am not sold on the wisdom, there is plenty of time for my radar screen/ Torah foundation to pick it up.

Good Shabbos all !

Solid Torah Foundation Required
It seems that the topic cannot be properly learned or understood without a very solid Torah based foundation of learning. Without this prerequisite, old prejudices based on human philosophies can cloud the ability to grasp the concept. Once the truth of this concept is grasped, one can see The Divine in everyone and everything.

smart alec - july 18, 2008
I am not trying to be a smart alack either. I respectfully disagree with the wisdom, am not prepared to argue about it. I know that it is tantamount to heresy to not accept that without a spark of Truth an entity cannot exist. I don't wish to be a heretic, but i'll bide my time.

In the raw Hitler had no truth in him. Not even a spark. Like i said, i am not prepared to argue. I'd rather live with the shortcoming. And Hitler is not the only example where truth is zero as far as i am concerned. He may have brought out the best in many, but i cannot buy into that notion either. I'll settle for there is at least a spark of truth in everything and we will find out more about this when Moshiach comes. At that time we will get to see whether he arrives in a chariot or on the back of a donkey.

Truth Anywhere
I think of it this way: if you find yourself in a dim and dangerous place with angry, dangerous people, it's hard to find the truth.

Except the truth is that it you know exactly the path (and the people) that led you into the darkness. You know that part of your own soul. Most of all, you remember how you felt there.

So if you'd never gone into that darkness, you'd never understand the truth of that world, or that dark place inside yourself.

You wouldn't have searched until you finally found new guides, who bring you to place filled with light ... and truth.

Of course, I may be completely wrong. Just had to take a chance.

absolute Truth
Only God has absolute truth, we are left with our truths. I agree there is truth and wisdom to be found in anyone and everything. How does this relate to Torah? Judaism for eg does not place much stock on physical exercise, not like the modern world does. Definitely physical exercise is good for a persons wellbeing and definitely ( in small doses) good for the physical body. Why is this truth not in judaism?

deepest Truth
Some say it is truth, they say it and they sincerely believe it but the foundation was fully constructed by men and based on lies 2000 years before they existed. Here's the deepest Truth: There is One Hashem not three, period the end.

Re: Questions
1. When you make yourself smaller than anything, then you can learn from everything. Then you are wise.
2. Every lie contains a little truth. Otherwise, no one would believe it. In fact, the deeper the lie, the deeper must be the truth to support it.. When you peel away the lie, you are left with a truth deeper than any truth you will find in the raw.

What truth comes from a lie?
What truth comes from a parable?

what truth comes from any story?

A lie is just another story. It reflects some level of truth the same as all stories do. We can find something if we look.

Questions
Its a very good philosophy! How would find the truth in everything? Or is this the part of being wise, were it occurs innately?

Also, not trying to be a smart alec, but what truth comes from a lie?
