Psalm 121

1. A song of ascents. 2. I lift my eyes to the mountains - from where will my help come? 3. My help will come from the L-rd, Maker of heaven and earth. 4. He will not let your foot falter; your guardian does not slumber. 5. Indeed, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. 6. The L-rd is your guardian; the L-rd is your protective shade at your right hand. 7. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 8. The L-rd will guard you from all evil; He will guard your soul. 9. The L-rd will guard your going and your coming from now and for all time.

Beautiful Psalm
Thank you for this it is wonderful - I gave it to Jewish friends who recently married. We had it on our wedding invitation 25 years ago. G-d is Good and He does guard our going and coming for all time. Shalom -

Thank you
I also (re)discovered that it is recited in the kiddush levana once a month.

Answer to Yonatan
We recite psalm 121 every night in the recitation of the Shema prior to retiring at night. It is also recited on Shabbat morning in the introductory psalms to the morning prayer

Psalm 121
Is it recited in the daily prayers? If so, where?

Psalm 121
This is a lovely Psalm. Besides giving us great encouragement that God is a reliable refuge, it also suggests responsibility on our part. If He will not let our feet falter, then we have to put our feet where he tells us to. If we deliberately put our feet iln quick sand, we really shouldn't expect any help. If He is our protective shade, then we have to stay under the shade he provides. If we refuse the protection, we would naturally expect to feel adverse consequences. The beginning of the Psalm reminds us that we need to acknowledge that we need help, be looking for it, and be looking in the right place, i.e. from Jehovah, God (the tetragrammaton occurs four times in the original Hebrew manuscript in this Psalm). It should truly have the effect of encouraging us to draw close to God.
