Psalm 23

The only time I see people getting emotional as they listen to Psalm 23 is at funerals...

Inasmuch as it is an appropriate psalm when faced with death, it works for life too...

1. A psalm by David. The L-rd is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. 2. He lays me down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. 3. He revives my soul; He directs me in paths of righteousness for the sake of His Name. 4. Though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-they will comfort me. 5. You will prepare a table for me before my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup is full. 6. Only goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the House of the L-rd for many long years.

Psalm 23. A prayer of hope for me
As I go through life with worry and fears eminating from learning of the Holocaust and that it could easily happen again in these times, I have 'discovered' that the 23rd psalm speaks directly to me of G-d's supreme power over the world, yet of His caring for me and my every need which can now give me strength and help me conquor my fears of humankind. I have always believed in the existance and power of HaShem and this psalm gives me the strength to say "Thank YOU L-rd" and to know that He has and will continue to bless and watch over me and take care of me in this life and that I can expect to live in His house even after death, thus giving me eternal hope.

Read Psalm 23 careful you will notice, it is not a psalm of a death person but a psalm of a person who survive from death by the help of the Shepherd of Israel, ELOKIM the Most High. it is a Paslm of survivor.
