Leash Your Heart

The mind and the heart slowly build a relationship, just as a pet and its master.

At first, the mind holds the heart on a leash. The heart screams, "I must have this! I must go there!"

And the mind says, "No, we talked this over already and we both agreed you don't need to."

And the heart screams, "But now I feel I need to! I can't do otherwise!"

And the mind says, "That's because you are a heart. Hearts feel that way. But I am a mind and I know we won't die if you don't."

Eventually, the heart learns the paths and become a mindful heart.

the Big difficulty
This ahs been one of my pet peeves since day one in Chabad, sechel to rule the heart. It seemed to rob one of heroic fight and flight reactions, and other actions which are better expressed spontaneously. When oyou see someone 'drowning ', reflex action is needed beofre they ' drown'. I am using the word drown by way of example. Secondly, at a dinner table filled with laughter, spontaneity is best.
It goes without saying that sechel over heart should be the common rule, with certain caveats mentioned above.
Than you ( Torah interpretation ) for at least coming up with a type of blend, mindful heart, heartful mind being a given.

Mind vs. heart
Don't you think that the opposite influence is taking place also?

When Mind has achieved its goal and took total control, it will be the Heart that says: "It is perfect but cold. Turn the fire on!"

Comment.
Very funny. Also, I guess if I'm feeling something then probably other people are feeling it too because we're all connected after all anyways. And sometimes, we are more like the brain and sometimes we are more like the heart. When I take this into account, I don't feel so bad when I'm having an "I want" attack. As for not needing something, well...I don't know. Sometimes I do need something. Thanks for all the things that you write.
