Quick Tip #4

Dedications

Looking for an additional way to honor the memory of your parents? You can do this and at the same time show your appreciation to the synagogue. Consider donating some prayer books or Pentateuchs (The Five Books of Moses, usually in a single volume). You can ask that a sticker be placed inside the front cover of these books with the name of the deceased and date of passing. That way, every time this book is used it will be in the merit of the deceased.

There are many other ways to honor a memory. Often, publishers of Jewish books will offer a dedication page. The rabbi might give a special series of classes or bring a guest lecturer in honor of the deceased. Other projects abound. The point is to keep your parents alive in these books and projects that happen in their name.
