66. The Ark

There is a raging storm at sea. There are hellish waves that crash and pound at the shore, carrying all away, leaving desolation behind.

The sea is the world of making a living. The waves are the stress and anxiety of indecision, not knowing which way to turn, on what to rely. Up and down, hot and cold—constantly churning back and forth.

Do as Noah did, and build an ark. “An ark” in Hebrew is teivah—which means also “a word.” Your ark shall be the words of meditation and of prayer. Enter into your ark, and let the waters lift you up, rather than drown you with everything else.

RE: "Ark vs Tiva" - deciphering the code
Living in the 'ark' is the time when a person protects his mind from the 'flood' of selfish desires and meditates only on good thoughts. He sails above the flood of his ego nature. This allows for the soul's structure to develop. Then when ready, his mind leaves the closed ark system and is ready to work with his egoistic desires and allow them to be transformed into love of others as oneself.

Pushing out the information
Excellent. Your words must get out to a much broader community. There are so many Jews thirsty for your words. Chabad is doing good. It must do much more. I can not find a single radio show of Jewish thought on my ride to and from work.

I think it is probably hard to do an honest assessment of outreach when you are shoulder deep in it.

The Ark
This is definitely a word in season, a word for the day, a word of the hour and I definitely do not want to become like the world but heed the obedience of Noah and build myself an ark. Thanks to HaShem I also agree your ark and my ark are the words of prayers and meditation. Amen.

Hide in the Teiva
I like this very much. Yes, the waves within my life, the waves within my soul are sometimes quite high and frightening.
I know by experience, that praying - talking with G-d - brings the frightening waves down, especially when I go to sleep in the evening.
Then there is quietness and peace.
I like your "Daily Diose" very much. -

Noah's ark
Thanks for these words (teivot). In these really troubled times, it is good to have inspiration to keep plowing, to remember that we are not alone. Thank you.

Meditation Idea
I agree to start doing this again. I never knew how this could help until I decided to try. 11 years ago I was having surgery for cancer; I was scared to DEATH, not of dying from the disease, or even the surgery. I was terrified of being put to sleep. General anesthesia was so frightening to me that I was on the verge of hysteria. I am claustrophobic, and had never had any hospital procedure before, not even a biopsy.

I purchased a book on "Meditation for Complete Idiots" which helped me to start. I found it more Jewish friendly than the one for "dummies." It took effort and did help me. If it could help me, it can help anyone. My middle name (or first name) should have been panic.

Try it. If you want to, it is possible to slow down and take a breath.

Good luck to all.

Ark vs. Tiva (in hebrew)
Shalom,
Tiva in fact is a box. So, Mr. Noah didn't build a ship like we see in the movies, he build a huge box. The way it was build is to have perfect stability. And he did very good job being box/ship builder.
But my question is how to find the reason for so little writing in TORA about such a huge fenomena as a flood?
Can anyone answer this?

la taiva
Its a good thing, to remember every year, the relevance of Noah and the Ark story. Now, even though the Taiva is so much needed, the development of the builidng task is quite challenging. How to do it in a world such as the one we share?

lets pray and ask for the soon arrival of the messiah

thank you so much
