Chabad-Lubavitch Educators Convene in Shadow of Missiles

News in Brief

August 13, 2006
"We believe we must continue everything as usual and be strong." The impact of three missiles in the Hadera-Zichron Yaakov area on Aug. 4 proved that Hezbollah terrorists could well indeed target Israelis as far south as 30 kilometers from Tel Aviv. The harsh reality, however, failed to detract more than 300 Chabad-Lubavitch educators from holding their annual three-day convention well within range of the deadly Katyusha rockets that weekend.

According to officials, the meeting, which was held at the Nir Etzion hotel at the southern tip of Mount Carmel, went on without a hitch.

“We believe we must continue everything as usual and be strong. Cancellation of events will be interpreted as a sign of weakness and only aggravate the situation and embolden Hezbollah,” said Rabbi Yisroel Brod, a spokesman for the Chabad-Lubavitch Youth Organization in Israel.
