There is a common misconception that life is about being in the right place at the right time. In truth, how you experience life has more to do with what is happening inside you as with what is happening outside.

Like riding a roller coaster without being prepared, if you are not well-tuned to the channel of life, a symphony of miracles could come across as cacophony from the boiler room.

This is what the sages call z'chut –sometimes translated as merit. It means a refinement of the soul, so that it will be precisely on the right frequency and static-clean.

It's wonderful to hear from within the reader's mind. I took anon's "scary" reaction to heart and adjusted the text. Try it now.

fear or love
I found the article, Z'chut, a great reminder of the choice we have every moment to make from either love or fear. It is not so much what comes at us, but what we do with what is given. Therein lies the choice. And do we make it from love or fear? I choose LOVE. I want to live every moment I am blessed with to connect intimately, fully engaged and embracing. When the wind blows, I feel it as a caress, when the rain falls, it washes and soothes my soul, I want to DANCE with all my soul like Miriam with tambourine and song realizing that each person, place or event placed before me IS that opportunity G-d has put before us to make that choice. The choice of love or fear. Standing as our ancestors at the waters edge, we too have the opportunity to jump in faith and land in love's choosing. And joy is in the jumping, eyes wide open knowing G-d's Hand is always there.

the ability to choose
I agree the language is strong. However, it clearly explains how our experience of the world depends on our perceptions... and how we have the power to shape our perceptions thereby allowing us an enhanced ability to choose a response to our experiences.

soul refinement
Soul refinement is a very general concept, to be able to connect and hear one's real self,it takes to calm down the anima soul, the ego that fears sooooo much to disappear, since it is mortal. In the moments one is able to trust that there is much more to him than the ego, than by emptying oneself from the ego, there is room to receive and "park" all the good opportunities that are all around us.

z'chut
this is precisely the explanation of Mazal tov, which can be explained as "dripping" from "nazel", how much space we make in our selves for the good to come in, it is up to us to create a big enough recepient .

I want to ask you: Do you think that a corollary of the second paragraph could be “If your soul is yes well prepared, a roller coaster from hell could become a paradise of miracles?”
And then, “If you are well tuned to the channel of life, then a cacophony from the boiler room can become a symphony of miracles?”
If so, it seems that the roller coaster and the boiler room have no objective reality in themselves, but depend on us and our preparations in order to configure them. Is that possible?

To be strong in spirit in your soul, you can control your life, along with God's help, keep prayer a daily part of your life. You will find that even out of control situations can be tolerated and put in your control, you will find inner strength will bring you above any situation and you will have the contol which gives you inner peace in body, mind and spirit.
