The mezuzah and the laws concerning the small scroll of protection that adorns every door of our homes.

It is customary to check the Mezuzahs from time to time, but especially if there is some problem. The Mezuzah brings G-d’s protection upon all the members of the household, even when they are outside the home.

The Mezuzah bears witness that the entire home and all that is within it are permeated by the Torah passages inscribed in the Mezuzah, beginning with: “Hear, O Israel, the L-rd is our G-d, the L-rd is One”; and concluding with G-d’s promise of Redemption.
