(When the Rebbe accepted the mantle of leadership, this was his “acceptance speech”:)

If you find a Jew who has love of G‑d, but lacks love of his people and love of Torah, tell him that this love cannot last.

If you find a Jew who has love of his people, but lacks love of G‑d and love of Torah, work with him to nurture this love until it overflows into the other two, until all three join in one tight knot that will never be untied.

three loves
Beautiful!
Only a tsadik like the Lubavitcher Rebbe could express such a feeling, in a simple, but deep way. You, chabadnikim, are a blessed group.

mantles of leadership; for one in johannesburg
Yes, this teaching resonates deeply with me, as well; almost daily:)

About 15 years ago my cousin married a non-jew. Relatives came peaceably from both sides to see them married. Because of what they felt was the newness and excitement of their love, like many 'unorthodox' souls, they searched out a blessing in the torah for a place where they could 'prove their devotion was true';

Yes, this teaching resonates deeply with me, as well; almost daily:)

So thank you, R. Freeman for sharing this moment.

I'm always finding myself being almost too serious about love...loving the people especially...then if I love the Torah a bit more and Know that G-d is in charge a bit more then it strengthens the knot a bit more and I can smile and laugh a bit more.-Thanks

This is very encouraging. This is simple and tells it jut like it is. I enjoy the 'Daily Dose" and look forward to it always. Thank you.

My question is...
...why would love of G-D not be sufficient, provided it comes out through proper actions (Mitzvahs), even if those actions are "intuitive", meaning not directly related to the present study of and obedience to Torah? Why is love of the Jewish people (vs. love of people generally) a prerequisite of a lasting love of G-D?

I read "3 Loaves"...
Being erev Shabbos, the story related to the Challah dough that is twisted with 3 strands, reminding us how everything is interwoven.

for Avner
Sounds from the Rebbe's words that he would be quite skeptical.
