Be Within Stay Above

It is natural and healthy to want material things. If nobody cared about material things, the earth would be desolate. But there’s no need to burn inside over them. That is beneath the dignity of a human being. And it eats away your passion for the more important things in life.

Save your fire for those things central to your purpose of being. Boston cream pie and shiny Lamborghinis are not central to your purpose of being.

The most real things are within

The true goal doesn't change, I think. It just changes its expression. In my study of the Torah and observing what I've learned in my own life. All acts of creation and accomplishment is a mere reflection of an inner state that has always been within us. You cannot acquire new traits to accomplish a goal, you can begin to unearth them within you.

SO I think what the rabbi means is that these material goals are distractions from the expression of that eternal divine fire that burns within us. It could be making Boston Creme pies or Lamborginis or driving them, but it's not about the actual things,its about creating something that expresses a universal perfection that has no way of expressing itself in our realm, other than though our own ACTS of creation.

Without your awareness it becomes an addiction to eating boston creme pie or an obsession .

Natural Desire

I agree with you like 98% of the time,but Rabbi I surely would want something real special for me, just once. I am always the giver and yes I do receive in ways I am not aware of. However, I would like something or another.

True.

I think that we all need a goal, but not sell our soul for it, it's only a goal the way is much more important in any case.
That's why when you get to one goal, you all ready plan your next one, basically you are starting a new path to walk in.
