324. Two Are One

Many people, without realizing, end up with two gods:

One god is an impersonal one, an all-encompassing, transcendent force.

But then, at times of trouble, they cry out to another, personal god, with whom they have an intimate relationship.

Our faith is all about knowing that these two are one. The same G‑d who is beyond all things, He is the same one who hears your cries and counts your tears. The same G‑d who is the force behind all existence and transcends even that, He is the same G‑d who cares about what is cooking in your kitchen and how you treat your fellow human being.

G‑d cannot be defined, even as transcendent. He is beyond all things and within them at once.

Two Are One
Pasted on my wall now (this reading). Simple and concise and far reaching. Thank you for putting this together in daily dose. It is very comforting to have words to express if even a bit, the relationship.

I ditto Michael from Germany. Thank you Rabbi Freeman, and Thank you Rebbe.

Yes, I relate to your words which themselves are Taoist in nature. Let's not forget that the Eternal One encompasses and embraces All Faiths.

Two are one
That is really helpful to get to an understanding of God, since God is so abstract. And when you want to relate personally, than how to do that,
This gives a tool.

One God
It is a wonderful text.
I believe it with all my heart.
My husband s"l could only believe in the One,
who is "behind the stars", The creator and sustainer. But not in the God, who knows what is "cooking in our kitchen". But G-d is G-d, as He is, even when we can not believe it. So he saw as well, that his disbelieving son, my husband, was a real Jew. Gentle, kind and loving other humans.
Therefore I believe, that now, being in the world of truth, he is accepted.
That is a great comfort to me.
Thank you. again!

Loving Gd
Last night I was thinking about my love for Gd.

For years I have been aware that my love for certain people in my life is absolute.

I sometimes would apologize to Gd for loving these people with all my heart, with all my might, for loving them--dare I say it?--more than Gd.

Last night I saw that, whatever happens to anyone else, Gd forbid, I can go on--perhaps in terrible pain, Gd forbid, but somehow, with Gd's help, can go on.

But without--perish the thought!--without Gd, no one can go on. If Gd abandons even one single individual, that individual cannot go on. If Gd abandons the world, the world cannot go on.

No matter how many people may be there for me, I can only go on because Gd is with me.

This means that, whether we are aware of it or not, we all really do love Gd with all our hearts, with all our souls. And so do I. Gd is our Source. He is our life and the length of our days. There is none else, for each of us and for the world.

Two are One
Wonderful, to have a relationship with a loving and caring G-d,
who at the same time is limitless and Almighty, keeping everything going, even the tiniest stars in a far away galaxy.
Nearly uinbelievable!
It brings tears to my eyes.

Thankyou Rabbo Freeman
and Thankyou, "Rebbe". First time I call you so
