278. Dawn of a New Age

At the time of the disarmament talks in the U.N. (January 1992):

On the wall outside the United Nations building, the nations of the world have inscribed their goal, the words of the Prophet Isaiah,

"They shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning forks."

Now the Cold War has ended and funds for arms will go instead to feed empty stomachs. Armies will be used to bring food to strangers. The prophecy has begun to be realized.

But the Cold War did not end due to Man’s power of reason. War never made sense --yet the same rational Man has fought them for millennium. All that is new is that the light of a new age has begun to shine in our world.

Based on letters and talks of the Rebbe, Rabbi M. M. Schneerson

dawn of a new age?
I agree whole heartedly with the comment, except I'm missing the connection between the body of the text and how the conclusion was reached in the last sentence?

Illuminating/Comforting/Encouraging
"I created your worlds not with a need, not from any cause, but nevertheless with a purpose and a desire: I decided that the Infinite Light should meet with the Absolute Darkness and in their marriage My Essence will be found. I chose to be found at home in the lowest of all worlds."

From the posting "Where the Essence Dwells" by the Rabbi F., it is encouraging to hear of this dawn as a point of view in recent history. The Hope of Peace and Unity.

Cold War
The funds that were spent on arms were NOT spent to feed the hungry. They just simply disappeared. Where?

The light exists because you are choosing to be the light. The light exists because I am choosing to be the light. And the light will continue to exist forever, so long as I choose to be the eternal light, instead of choosing to be the pursuit of money, sex, power ... It is all in our hands. It is all in your hands. The light exists simply because you are choosing to be the light. Always has. Always will. "Life is what you make it. Always has been. Always will be."
