Do not give charity.

Giving charity means being nice and giving away your money. But who says it is your money to begin with?

It is money put in your trust, to be disbursed for good things and for others when they will need it.

Change your attitude. Instead of doing what is nice, do what is right. Put the money where it belongs.

Re: Please explains
The Hebrew word commonly translated as charity actually means righteousness, "doing what is right." A better translation into English is "social justice."

So the Rebbe is not telling you here not to give to others. He is telling you to take an attitude to it: Don't do it with the sense of "being nice." Do with the sense of "doing what is right."

Being Vietnamese from poverty, famine, disease background, I come to know Charity. I understand in English charity means love. Yes, there is charity I stood in a line as a child to drink milk to be sure we had good nutrition for the day. When man helps man for the glory of G-d actually in other words for the fear of G-d, I have no problem at all. But you are right- I shudder "to be nice".

Hi rabbi, may you explain more thoroughly in regard with charity and what is the right thing to do. I don't want to assume based on my own perception of right and wrong. Please teach me.

God bless you. The real translation of Tzedaka as charity, is RIGHT-NESS as in tzadik. You are so brave to reveal this.
Please use the funds forwarded to you to continue your revalations. Perhaps T'fillah meaning revalation could follow.
