205. High Souls

To one whose self is his body, death of the body is death of the self. But for one whose self is his love, awe and faith, there is no death, only a passing. From a state of confinement in the body, he makes the passage to liberation. He continues to work within this world, and even more so than before.

The Talmud says that Jacob, our father, never died. Moses, also, never died. Neither did Rabbi Judah the Prince. They were very high souls who were one with Truth in an ultimate bond—and since Truth can never die, neither could they.

Yes, in our eyes we see death. A body is buried in the ground, and we must mourn the loss. But this is only part of the falseness of our world. In the World of Truth, they are still here as before.

And the proof: We are still here. For if these high souls would not be with us in our world, all that we know would cease to exist.

The Dead
Is there a prohibition consorting with the dead?

But we read their books, right?

We harbor their memories, right?

Their souls endure. Transmigration.

Seems a little more than just a little confusing to an ignoramous such as I.

High Souls
My baby daughter (26) was a 5 year vet with OKCPD and was killed 17 years ago today (1-5).

Yes, I still grieve the loss of her physical being - her smile, her laughter and her sheer joy in just being alive.

I only know one thing for sure; as long as I live, she will live in my heart and still be a prescence on earth.

I don't know if she was/is a high soul; however the thought that she might be is very comforting.

FOR GAYLE - JAN. 4 2012
I asked the same question (see my post on June 15 2010 above) See the Rabbi's answer on June 16 2010 above.

To Gayle
The Rebbe doesn't explain. I guess we're supposed to be better Torah students.

There is a concept that tzadikim still sustain us by funneling Gd to us. The concept that the Rebbe became much more powerful for us after his passing. I think that comes from Talmud.

Maybe the Rebbe is saying that without them, we could not survive?

Somebody able to help?

question
"And the proof: We are still here. For if these high souls would not be with us in our world, all that we know would cease to exist."
Can someone explain that to me?

Richard... is this the passage you were looking for?

307. True Belief
From a letter by the Rebbe:

I do not accept your assertion that you do not believe.

For if you truly had no concept of a Supernal Being Who created the world with purpose, then what is all this outrage of yours against the injustice of life?

The substance of the universe is not moral, nor are plants and animals. Why should it surprise you that whoever is bigger and more powerful swallows his fellow alive?

It is only due to an inner conviction in our hearts, shared by every human being, that there is a Judge, that there is right and there is wrong. And so, when we see a wrong, we demand an explanation: Why is this not the way it is supposed to be?

That itself is belief in G‑d.

DAILY DOSE: Proof of G-d
I need help. I am searching for a DAILY DOSE from several months ago that dealt with disbelief in G-d because of "overthinking" and encouraged simpler thinking. It was only a few sentences. After Chanukah my baby (31) revealed that he no longer believes in G-d. My only response was, "I can not understand anyone not believing in G-d." Sixty-five years of working with people told me not to argue because it would just harden his defenses. My love is unconditional and I figure we will discuss it when he is ready.
This DAILY DOSE was perfect in explaining that we feeble beings can not understand G-d and the deeper we try the more frustrated we will become. Can anyone give me the DAILY DOSE # ? Thank you for reading. Poor Soul.

High Souls
To me this is one utmost point of the faith. Believe the Eternal One means believe Eternal Life. One of later challenge I endeavor is the support to HaMachpelah. Suddenly it hits me HaShem says He is G-d of the living not the dead. The matter is not just historical site but as I live right now do I believe the patriarchs and matriarchs and just as you say if I do not what do I think about you. Yes, your presence helps me to remember the essence of the faith I do not see but believe. (Of course you know I am non Jew).
