150. Miracles & Doctors

Firm confidence in G-d can perform miracles of healing. Nevertheless, you should still follow the instructions of the doctor.

Not that it is the doctor or his medicine that heals
--it is the Healer of All Flesh who heals.

But the doctor and the medicine provide a natural channel for the healing to occur, and this is the way G-d prefers His miracles to work -through natural means.

Based on letters and talks of the Rebbe, Rabbi M. M. Schneerson
From the wisdom of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory; words and condensation by Rabbi Tzvi Freeman. To order Rabbi Freeman’s book, Bringing Heaven Down to Earth, click here.

I can accept that the doctor is a channel, but only if he is "natural"....not usiing chemical means which undermine the body (and mind)!

Natural Channel of Healing
"A Natural Channel for Healing to occur"? From a possible non believer or pagan, and medications that are genetically made and possible causing other problems!! Are the doctors Kosher? . . . . . hmmmmm are the Medications? I agree G_d uses healers, however should they not be trained to keep His Mitzvot?

If ...

"--it is the Healer of All Flesh who heals"

then, we have two options to receive our "healing" ... from the doctor or from G-d Himself.

How can we know that G-d prefers His miracles to work through natural means. We see evidence of both the natural and the supernatural in our world. Judaism is based on miracles.

I believe G-d give us the choice ... free choice ... as to whether we receive our healing from a doctor or directly from above.

Miracles do happen every day but we fail to recognize them because some of us think every miracle must be extraordinary

Miracles and Doctors
G-d in the Torah provides us with his perfect health plan designed by the creator for His creation, us. Doctors have their place but it is interesting to note that most medication prescribed does not heal but allows you to live with your affliction. Take this Rx for your diabetes or gout and you can continue to live, it will supress the symptoms as long as you keep taking it, however over the years you may have to increase the dose. If we follow G-d's health plan spiritually and physically, we will walk in health and our bodies which have been created to self heal will do so in the correct environment. Yes G-d can and does provide miracles of healing but He expects us to do our part as laid out in His Torah, eat right, keep the Sabbath, avoid Lashon Hara (evil talk) etc. As a Naturopathic Doctor I have seen G-d's hand work time and time again as people have come into the revelation that G-D our Creator is also our Healer and have put into practice the principles laid out in the Torah.
